Clips for Cancer is a personal mission for Cameratta Companies

When my niece was diagnosed with cancer at just four years old, our family’s world was turned upside down. At that time, the care she needed wasn’t available in Southwest Florida. My brother Nick and sister-in-law Colleen had to leave home and take her to Cleveland for treatment. Thankfully, she is cancer-free today. But that experience revealed the urgent need for pediatric cancer care close to home.

That’s why Clips for Cancer is so important to me and to Cameratta Companies. This year, we were proud to sponsor Lee Health Foundation’s 9th Annual Clips for Cancer in Fort Myers, which has already raised over $130,000 to benefit Barbara’s Friends and the children of Golisano Children’s Hospital.

Each September, to mark National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, pediatric cancer survivors shave the heads of local leaders and community supporters. Seeing these brave kids take clippers to adults who step forward in solidarity is unforgettable. It’s a reminder of the courage children show every day—and the community that rallies around them

Barbara’s Friends, founded in 1995, has provided lifesaving care to more than 12,000 children. Golisano Children’s Hospital now treats close to 100 children each year for pediatric cancers, ensuring no child is denied care due to inability to pay. Donations help cover medication, transportation, meals, counseling, scholarships, and medical equipment—support that allows families to focus on healing.

As Chairman of the Lee Health Foundation, I’ve seen how events like Clips for Cancer make a direct impact. But as an uncle who once watched his niece battle cancer, I know the deepest value: giving families the chance to stay together while their children fight.

Clips for Cancer reminds us that while cancer may test us, it cannot break our spirit. Together, we can continue to offer hope, healing, and strength to the children who inspire us all. To support Barbara’s Friends, please visit leehealthfoundation.org/donate.
